Are you ready for the 2012 season of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (40th ADAC Zurich 24h race)? With less than 1 week to go, this popular race will be scheduled to run on Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20, 2012. The Nürburgring Nordschleife (north loop) has a lap length of over 25 km, and this year the race has a limit of 190 cars/entries.
The 2012 Super GT round 2 was held in 4th May 2012 in Fuji. It was well received although the weather was not perfect. Last year’s champion #0 GSR HATSUNEMIKU BMW started from the 4th position and managed to finished the race as the winner of GT300 class. The next round of Super GT will be held in 10th June 2012 at Sepang Internation Circuit, Malaysia.
The round 2 of 2012 DTM was not short of excitement, and BMW has gotten their first DTM win in 20 years. Bruno Spengler of BMW M3 DTM Bank has defended his pole position from Gary Paffett of Mercedes. Augusto Farfus was only able to finish third although started on the front row of the grid. Mattias Ekstrom was the best-placed Audi driver, finishing fifth behind Jamie Green of Team AMG Mercedes C-Coupé. The results of the race are as follows.
The round 2 of Super GT 2012 was a very challenging race. It rained intermittently throughout the rain, and choosing the right tires proved to be a game-changing factor. DENSO KOBELCO SC430 driven by Juichi Wakisaka and Hiroaki Ishiura helped team SARD to their first GT win in 8 years. CALSONICIMPUL GT-R was leading the race with 15 laps remaining, when the rain started pouring again. He headed back to the pit for a tire change but it turned out that it wasn’t worthwhile. RAYBRIG HSV-010 took the lead after that and in the later stage with 4 laps remaining DENSO KOBELCO SC430 emerged as the winner.
BMW has make a comeback after 20 years of absence in the DTM scene. BMW field 6 BMW M3 in 2012 DTM season, and with the 2011 DTM Champion driver Martin Tomczyk, they are set to bring the competition of the German makes (Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz) to the next level. Andy Priaulx was able to finish 6th with his Crowne Plaza Hotels BMW M3 DTM. Let’s see if BMW can bring some competition to Audi and Mercedes in the second round of DTM, which is set to be held on Lausitz on 6th May 2012.
Mercedes AMG had a dream start in the season opener of 2012 DTM. It couldn’t be any better as Gary Paffett and Jamie Green help their team to a 1-2 win in Hockenhiem. Another Mercedes AMG C-coupe driven by Christian Vietoris took the 4th place. Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard finished 8th for Mercedes. This is indeed a very good results for Mercedes AMG.
